"How effective are websites"

An engaging website with information attracting one to join their sports management program is Florida State University. This information is found at (http://www.fsu.edu/~smrmpe/) University of Southern Mississippi’s page is far less engaging than USF. This information can be found at (http://www.usm.edu/southernmissonline/programs/sportmanagement.php). These websites show the effective and not so effective tactics that many universities use when trying to attract students to their program. There are many things that schools can do to draw prospects to join their program. The University of Southern Mississippi fails at this terribly. Florida State University’s website was even useful for students at attending other colleges, such as why to choose sport management and jobs in that field.

The Florida State University expresses that what can be learned from attending their program is what is necessary to make it in the sports management world. The first thing that caught my eye and probably others also was readings on many scholarship opportunities. Also, their program provides one with actually duties in the work force so that they can be experienced and trained for their upcoming job. They have video and comments left by the alumni that express their feelings about what they got out the program and how successful they are now. This implement fascinated me because I got to hear an outside opinion on what others attained from choosing their university over others. In addition, they have blogs that informs you on experiences a student has by networking and internship opportunities by reading. They have lots of picture and present updates on what new and going on in the program. This website expressed concrete information based on profession preparation that attracted me to the page. There is nothing I would change about this website. I enjoyed looking at it and reading all the information provided. It also made me consider attending the program for grad school.

They University of Southern Mississippi’s webpage for sports management is very basic. This site only gives prospects strictly the facts and what is needed while attending the program. The only thing one has to read about on the main page is the purpose of sports management, which is already known by the upcoming student. It contains no interesting facts or statistics about what students have got out of attending their program. This makes the website boring and not interesting to take time to read. The university should try tactics such as FSU did to attract their future prospects. Having a affecting home page would be the start. Also, they should have updates and personal statements from former graduates to express their feeling and tell the outcome of attending this university. It is very vital to have an effective website. Mainly the whole world uses the internet to do everything, especially things relating to school. Without having a website like Florida, Southern Mississippi mites loose the opportunity to attract future students to their program especially those out of state. I feel after looking at both sites that FSU put more time and effort into their website. I feel that if you post the information it should be inspirational and effective to all readers.
